This activity was very motivating, in part because of it forced us to be creative to put it together. It was also a lot of fun and was definitely very doable by our students. One of the revelations of doing it was that making videos can be used by teachers to cover every single on of the national foreign language standards.
The process we followed of putting together a storyboard, and learning to use the camera's was very helpful to us, and those steps would both have been absolutely necessary for out students. I think that making movies with a class of students would involve more detailed instruction on how to build the stroyboard, but the camera use would most likely be very natural to our media savvy students.
