WebQuest: Teacher page

This WebQuest was put together by Antonio Santamaria for the New Technologies in the Learning of Languages Other Than English class at CSULB (California State University, Long Beach). I graduated in 1982 with a major in Spanish from Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois. I traveled to Barcelona, Spain, and spent 14 years there perfecting Spanish, learning Catalan, the local language of Catalonia, and did the course work for a Masters in Teaching Spanish to Speakers of Other Languages in Barcelona. In 1996, my wife, my 1 1/2 year old daughter, and I returned to the US.

I have been in the teaching since the fall of 1982. I first taught English for 14 years in Barcelona, and a year and a half in Visalia, CA. In 1998 I switched languages and taught Spanish for two years at Jordan High School. I have taught Spanish for 10 years at Wilson High School in Long Beach, CA.

I am in the Spanish Masters program at CSULB which I will formally start in the fall of 2010, but am taking this class in the summer of 2010 to get a head start on the program.

My goal is to complete the program by the end of 2012, which is when I will seriously consider whether or not to pursue a Doctorate.
